A little something I did in my spare time. As an independent creator/artist I have admired the works of Stan Sakai for some years now, there are  few inspirations for independent minded creators to look to as prime examples of dedication and success, Stan Sakai is one of them. He has turned an unlikely little anthropromorphised character like Usagi and have turned him into a success to be proud of. I had never drawn the character before now and saw it as a challenge, and although our styles differ I tried to instill a little of Stan's style into my rendition. This was my entry for CAPS(Comic Art Professional Society) who is holding an auction featuring works by different artists with Usagi Yojimbo as the subject-this is to financially support Mr. Sakai and his family who is currently suffering the darkest of times, he recently lost his baby grandson to illness and his wife Sharon is currently in serious condition due to a brain tumor. This was just my meager little attempt at supporting Mr. Sakai and his family through this very difficult time. I chose an action scene embodying the fighting spirit of the Ronin Rabbit diving boldly into a virtual sea of evil hog warriors-I based the hogs on the Gammorean guards from "Return of the Jedi". With his permission of course I will be coloring this in the future and plan on selling as prints at appearances and signings to further help Mr. Sakai and his family.

Mr. Sakai finally got to see my rendition of his character and to my great honor he was very pleased with it-will be posting the final shades and colors on this piece soon

Splendid - Very solid linework, and great action pose! And done in a good cause too,
in that it supports a great cartoonist...(with work from another great cartoonist)

I had no idea Sakai had such a tough time recently...A shame.
